Spring Cleaning Around Your School – Get Your Students Involved!

Looking for a helping hand for wrapping up spring cleaning in your classroom? I know of a few little helpers that would love to be of service! The chore of spring cleaning can easily become a game for students when we get a little creative with our classroom cleaning. Here are a few ideas that can get your students involved and help you cross some things off your list.

Have students sort out pencils, crayons and markers. They can go through items like these and take out the ones that have seen better days. Try placing one on each table and having the students take out bad crayons, dried out markers or broken pencils. The first table to complete their box and have it repacked neatly wins!

A favorite of mine from my own elementary days was when our teachers would bring out the shaving cream! It’s a blast for the kids and perfect for cleaning off tables. All you do is spray shaving cream on the desks or tables. Students can then free draw, play games like tic tac toe or connect the dots, or even work on spelling or math problems. Try writing a problem on the board and having students solve it in their shaving cream.

Tip! Want to avoid getting shaving cream on their clothes? A can liner makes the perfect cover. Just flip it upside down and cut three holes for their head and arms. Voila! Now they have their own artist’s smock.

Clean up for this activity is a breeze. Once the shaving cream has dissolved just wipe the remainder off with a paper towel. Now you have clean tables and an activity that your students will be talking about all summer long!

Spring Cleaning Around Your School – Let it Go!

Spring has finally arrived! That means it’s time for a good Spring Cleaning in your classroom! For the month of April we will be sharing with you all of our favorite spring cleaning tips and tricks. We want to help you enjoy your summer as long as you can. Follow these steps and you will be able to have a stress free end of the school year as well as an easy set up for the beginning of the next school year!

This might be a hard concept for some teachers, but our first tip involves getting rid of some things. Here’s the rule; If you haven’t used it all year, then let it go! These items are only cluttering your cabinets. You can get started by separating items into piles. There will be a pile for things to keep, a pile for trash and one for donations. By making a donation pile you can pass on the stuff you aren’t using, that is still in good condition, to a teacher in need. It makes giving things up a little less painful when you are giving it to a good cause!

Keep in mind that the more you let go of, the more room you have for new material! You can check out www.purefunsupply.com for all of our teacher resources, arts and crafts, classroom furniture and more! Be sure to check back in for more Spring Cleaning tips for the classroom.

Sickness Prevention

It can be challenging to keep your little ones from catching the illnesses that spread easily in classroom settings. This is especially true in the cold weather months! We want to help you avoid those sick days at home with a few of our favorite tips and tricks that will help keep you and your students germ free and healthy!

Image result for sickness prevention in the classroom

1. Wash your hands. This is a simple step but often a missed one. Washing your hands thoroughly and often will help you to decrease the amount of germs that you will encounter during the day. It is important that you remind your students to wash their hands more often and show them how to do it correctly. You can even provide a hand sanitizer for quick germ prevention throughout the day.

2. Sanitize your classroom. The more often you can do this, the better. This can mean cleaning your tables, toys, diaper changing stations and more. Sanitizer Wipes or Sprays are perfect for a quick clean up. We suggest making this a weekly event to ensure a clean classroom environment.

3. Build immunity. It is important to have an overall healthy lifestyle to help fight sicknesses and ultimately prevent them. By eating healthy, exercising regularly and getting enough sleep, you can build your body’s immunity. This will give your body the extra strength it needs to fight the germs that you encounter every day.

Have a sickness prevention tip that works well in your classroom? We would love to hear from you! Just leave us a comment down below.

TimeMist Air Fresheners & TimeMist Dispensers

400719-2T

What is one of the first things Potential Parents notice when they walk into your school or daycare? They may notice the front desk receptionist and their demeanor or the decor of your childcare center, but one of the main things a potential parent will notice is the smell of your childcare center.

When you have a center that appeals to ALL the senses, you will have more business. A parent wants to feel comfortable leaving their precious little one in a place that is clean. Using a Air Freshener like TimeMist is a great way to improve the overall smell and feeling of your daycare. We offer over 11 scents in Time Mist air fresheners.

A great advantage to using TimeMist Air fresheners is their programable dispensers. This Metered Aerosol Dispenser has an Advanced system with Command Performance, that allows you to customize the daily usage. Some great features of the Time Mist PLUS dispenser is that you can set start/stop time, plus spray level (light, medium, heavy). Or, set switch ON for automatic spraying every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day, for 30 days. Visual (LED) and audible (beeps) refill and battery replacement indicators.

Q & A with www.purefunsupply.com

212510-2

What is the difference between white and brown paper towels?

When choosing the right towel for your child care center, you may wonder if white or brown towels would work better for your school.

The quality is about the same, though some people think that the brown towels are not quite as strong as the white towels. Usually white towels are more expensive than brown towels. Brown towels are more environmentally friendly because less energy is used to produce them; white towels go through a bleaching process and more water is used their production.

Find your choice of white and brown multifold towels and dispenser roll towels at your daycare supply superstore  www.purefunsupply.com.

We offer many of our daycare supplies in a value economy brand. Be sure to check out all lines of our daycare paper towel at www.purefunsupply.com

Shoe covers for Daycares

Shoe-Covers

Have you ever thought to yourself  “Do I need to bother with shoe covers in my child care center?”

YES, for the infant room! Think about it: the babies are sitting, scooting, and crawling on the floor. Not only that, but they are at the age where they put just about anything in their mouth. Their immune systems are still immature, so it makes sense for everyone entering the baby room in your daycare center to put a pair of fresh shoe covers on.

www.purefunsupply.com has shoe covers in both unisize and x-large size; they’re a pretty blue color, too!

Q & A with www.purefunsupply.com

health-kids-washing-hands

Do children prefer liquid hand soap or foaming hand soap?

Foaming hand soap for sure! Children think its fun and tend to wash their hands longer when they get to use foaming hand soap. I have found when kids use liquid hand soap, they tend to use about two squirts, but when they use foaming hand soap they only use one. So foaming hand soap may be more economical.

www.purefunsupply.com offers eco-friendly foaming hand soap and antibacterial foaming hand soap for wall dispensers. Be sure to stock up on our no touch dispensers as well!

Q & A with www.purefunsupply.com

disposable bibs

Cloth or plastic bibs for toddlers?

I like the disposable plastic bibs because they have a ‘shelf’ at the bottom which is great for catching liquids and food. With cloth bibs, you incur the additional expense and time of washing and drying them. Disposable bibs, made specifically with daycare centers in mind, easily tie in the back and can be thrown in the trash without a messy clean-up!

Check out www.purefunsupply.com to find disposable bibs in bulk for a great price. They work perfectly for daycares, child care centers and preschools.

Disposable Shoe Covers

Shoe covers are a great addition to any nursery. Before staff and parents enter the room, have each person place disposable covers over their shoes. This prevents dirt from tracking into the room and will allow your staff to spend less time vacuuming the floor. Shoe covers come in “unisize” and extra large. Unisized covers fit up to a men’s 10.5 shoe size, and the extra large fit a men’s 10.5 and larger. Choose a shoe cover with an elastic ankle band and traction grip to prevent slipping.
