Presidents’ Day Penny

 

 

Use this as your penny template:

 

MATERIALS NEEDED:

• White Coffee Filters
• Steam iron
• Penny template printed on copy paper
• Masking tape
• Black fine tip sharpie marker
• Brown watercolor paint
• Paint brush
  

DIRECTIONS:
PREP WORK: Flatten white coffee filters with a steam iron. Tape filter on top of a Penny Template. The missing side lines need to be added by the student.

1. Have the students trace the penny template onto the filter with the sharpie marker.
2. Now paint the filter with one layer of brown watercolor paint. Let dry about 10 minutes and then paint the shadow areas with another layer.
3. When the filter is dry, carefully remove the tape and the penny template. Lightly press with a steam iron to make them nice and crisp.

Healthy Habits

DIY:

What you will need: scissors, glue, construction paper, 3 compartment foam plate, a cup, utensils and a bowl.

You can have children cut fruits and vegetables out of newspapers, grocery store ads or print them out.

Set up a place mat for each kid (a piece of construction paper… any color will do),Write on the plates, bowls and cup the different food groups: grains, fruits, vegetables, dairy, protein

Have the child glue the appropriate food to the plate in their food group.

Dr. Seuss Day/ Read Across America Day: March 2nd

 

 

 

 

  One of my favorite days in elementary school was Dr. Seuss day! We got to come to school in pjs and read our favorite books at school. Here is a fun way to decorate your Bulletin Board for Dr.Seuss Day!

Personalized Thing 1’s and Thing 2’s.

What you will need to create your Thing 1 & 2: Yellow construction paper, Red, White & Light Blue paint , Scissors and a black pen.

• Step one: Start with a full sheet of yellow construction paper, paint the palm of your student's hand white, and paint the fingers light blue. Press their hand in the middle of the yellow paper. Remove it slowly and wash their hand.
• Step two: Once the child's hand has been washed off and dried. Paint the hand again, this time with a white circle in the middle of the palm and everything else red except the middle finger. You will be placing this hand opposite of the other hand print.
• Step three: Let it dry.
• Step four: Once dry get a black pen. Draw the face and write Thing 1 or Thing 2 on the white circle.
• Step five: Cut around the hand prints leaving a yellow border around the edge. You have a homemade Thing 1 or 2 to add to the bulletin board.
