Presidents’ Day Penny

 

 

Use this as your penny template:

 

MATERIALS NEEDED:

• White Coffee Filters
• Steam iron
• Penny template printed on copy paper
• Masking tape
• Black fine tip sharpie marker
• Brown watercolor paint
• Paint brush
  

DIRECTIONS:
PREP WORK: Flatten white coffee filters with a steam iron. Tape filter on top of a Penny Template. The missing side lines need to be added by the student.

1. Have the students trace the penny template onto the filter with the sharpie marker.
2. Now paint the filter with one layer of brown watercolor paint. Let dry about 10 minutes and then paint the shadow areas with another layer.
3. When the filter is dry, carefully remove the tape and the penny template. Lightly press with a steam iron to make them nice and crisp.

Pocket Chart tips and tricks on organizing a classroom

 

Not only are Pocket Charts helpful for teaching …they are amazing at keeping the classroom organized. Here are a few ways teachers have used our pocket charts to organize their Classrooms!

 

These Teachers use their Pocket Charts to help represent who is in which Station/center and the station/centers task are. The Teacher on the right keeps the task/items for that station in the corresponding bins below.

 

 

 

Do you have a student that missed a day? What a better to keep track of what all they might have missed and have to make up. You already have that days assignments printed off for the students to grab and take home and work on.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Using a larger Pocket Chart You can create a mail center for your students. Where they can feel comfortable asking/telling you something they are nervous about discussing in front of others. They can ask you a question about something that was discussed in the class prior, that they would like you to go over more. Your students can turn things into you through the mail center and you can leave them stickers or a new pencil for class. The mail center is great for so many reasons!

 

 

 

Bulletin Boards are not just to display artwork or to add a bit of color. They are a perfect place to add small pocket charts. Classroom Management

For every teacher, having a solid Classroom Management Plan is key! Sadly, there isn’t one magic plan that works for every classroom or student, but by sharing a few ideas we hope to help you create a plan that works for your classroom! In this series, you will find a few basic tips and ideas that will help you keep a positive and manageable environment for your students.

Our first tip is simple; Love your students. There is typically a student in every classroom that stirs up a bit of trouble. This can cause tension in the room and even between teacher and student. The difference in positive reinforcement and a negative reaction is loving each student first. Think of them as your own and strive to make sure they know they are loved and believed in while in your classroom. Look for the best in each student and help them to always bring their best to class with them every day. By letting them know you believe in their best you are encouraging them to believe in their best as well.

Along those same lines, tip two is to Set the Tone of your Classroom. Leave room for humor and take the time to recognize the personalities of your students. It really makes a difference for you and for them when you remove pressure and get to know them. Your classroom should be a positive environment for every student. Having a reminder to keep things positive may be beneficial to your room. Try adding a poster with a positive quote to keep students inspired!
