Something To Think About This Easter

 

Have you ever wondered where the Easter bunny came from?

Back in the 1700s, Germans emigrated to America and settled in Pennsylvania. They started telling their neighbors the story of a special bunny that came each spring to lay beautiful colored eggs.

Children began building nests to collect the eggs. They also set out carrots in case the Easter Bunny got tired hopping from nest to nest.

Eventually, the eggs turned to chocolate, the nests became baskets, and people started giving gifts to each other.

How did Bunnies and Eggs Get Associated with Easter?

Spring is when flowers burst forth with color and chase away the brown, barren landscape of winter.

Animals like deer, raccoons, skunks, otter, birds, and yes – bunnies – have babies in the spring.

Eggs are a symbol of new life.  Colored eggs point to the festive colors of spring.

Spring is a new start, a new beginning. Why not celebrate that? 

A Question to Ponder

What if everything you did wrong was forgiven and forgotten?

How would you feel?

What would you do?

How would you live?

Forgiveness is a relief when someone grants it. It’s like having your slate wiped clean and your bad behavior removed from your permanent record.

Ask your students these questions. Maybe they have someone they can forgive. Or maybe they can apologize to someone they’ve offended.

It might be a new beginning for one (or more) of their relationships! What better way to remember Easter?

Give Someone a Basket

Who doesn’t love a gift?

Help your students show someone they care with an Easter basket filled with gifts. It can be as simple as filling a few eggs with candy. Maybe they can make a card to put inside. Whatever they do, it will be beautiful – and appreciated.

Bonus points if you give baskets to people who might not get one otherwise.

Easter Egg with Cross

 

Items needed:

• 2-9” paper plates
• Pastel paper
• Paint
• Stamps or Q-tips
• 2- Brads

 

1. Cut a cross, heart, and circle out of colored paper and glue to a 9” paper plate.

2. Cut an egg shape out of pastel colored Construction paper.

3. Use Q-tips to paint rows of design onto the egg shape, or use small stamps.

4. Glue the egg to a second 9” paper plate.

5. Cut the paper plate with the egg shape in half.

6. Fasten the two halves to the cross plate with 2 brads.

Easter Snack & Breakfast Ideas

Start off Easter morning with one of these adorable pancake variations! Your little ones will be excited to see the creation made! You can even have them get in on the fun and help you make breakfast.

             

Looking for something easter themed to snack on and also satisfy the sweet tooth? Try one of the following choices that include a bit of chocolate.

This fun spin on the traditional smore is guaranteed to be a child favorite! Replace your typical marshmallow with an Easter peep. The colors give it a fun new look and make for the perfect sweet snack!



If you are looking for something a little on the healthier side then try out these adorable strawberry carrots! Use white chocolate with a bit of orange food coloring to give your chocolate covered strawberries a new carrot appearance!




Last, but not least, is my personal favorite! Using plastic Easter eggs, take a nail or something round and sharp to puncture a hole into the top. The hole needs to be large enough for a lollipop stick to fit into. Once you have created the hole, take a funnel and pour your favorite PureFUN! Juice flavor into the closed egg. Next, add in the stick and place the eggs into the freezer. Once frozen, you end up with an adorable Easter egg popsicle!

Tip! Give the popsicles a few minutes on the counter to make it a bit easier to open the top. You can also easily pop off the bottom portion of the egg if desired.
