This
cool math activity is very simple and a lot of fun. It only takes a minute or
two to put together, and can be used for a variety of math skills.
Items
Needed:
5 Styrofoam
cups with a lip per set
Directions:
Use the
picture above as an example of which way to write your numbers and symbols. (
you will want to write them whole holding the cup horizontal, not vertical)
1.
Write the numbers 0-6 around the lip of 2 cups and 0-12 on another.
2. Write an addition and subtraction symbol on
the edge of 1 cup, and an equals sign on another.
3. Stack the cups in the following order:
- First, a 0-6 cup.
- Second, addition or subtraction symbols cup.
- Third, the other 0-6 cup.
- Fourth, the equals sign cup.
- Finally, the 0-12 cup.
4. Twist the different cups to make true
equations.
