Preschool Thanksgiving Craf

Items needed:

·         Construction paper

·         Glue

·         Paint

·         Wiggle eyes

·         Scissors

Use an off-white or white piece of construction paper as the background for this craft. You don’t want to use too dark of a color or the paint colors will not show up as vibrant.

Next take a piece of brown construction paper and cut a medium sized circle. This is for the body of the turkey.

Then take an off white piece of construction paper and cut a smaller circle that will fit inside the larger circle. This will be the face of the turkey.

Using red construction paper cut out the turkey’s snood.

With orange construction paper cut a small triangle for the turkeys’ beak and a trident shape for the turkeys’ feet.

Trace around the large brown circle in the middle of the page.

Have the children paint their hands and stamp them around the circle that they have traced.

Then have the children glue the pieces of cut out shapes in order to create the turkey shown above.

Last step is to add the turkeys wiggle eyes.

That’s one cute little turkey!

Native American Headband

One of our favorite memories in school is getting to make headbands and pilgrim hats. Here is a simple, but decorative headband for children to enjoy making.

All you will need is construction paper, a stapler and markers

1. Cut a 2” rectangle out of white construction paper. This rectangle needs to be long enough to go around the top of the Childs head. Not too tight so it is uncomfortable for them to wear, but just loose enough for it to come off with ease.
2. Using the markers have the children color tribal designs: triangles, circles, zigzags, let their creative thoughts flow. You can also turn this into a shapes activity for little ones.
3. Next grab your colored construction paper, Let the children pick out four of their favorite colors. Once they have chosen their colors, cut out long oval shapes in different sizes, once you have done this you can have the children fringe the sides of the leaves creating a feather.
4. Once all is cut and colored, you will want to staple the ends of the headband together. Grab your feathers and staple them to the inside of your headband, in the same spot as the staple connecting the headband together. You will want to layer the feathers so all sizes show use the above photo for reference.

Sunflower Classroom Craft

 

What you will need: paper plate, glue, scissors, popsicle stick, green marker, green construction paper, yellow paint & lots and lots of sunflower seeds

1. Using the yellow paint, paint the frontside of the plate. Set it aside to dry.
2. With a green marker, color your entire popsicle stick  (front, back & don’t forget the sides)
3. Grab a pair of scissors and your green construction paper, Cut some leaves to attach to the popsicle stick.
4. Grab the glue, attach the leaves to the sides of the popsicle stick.
5. Once your plate is dry, cut 8 triangles out of the outer ring of the plate. This step creates the petals of the flower.
6. Glue the popsicle stick with the attached leaves to the back side (this is the side of the plate that is still white).
7. Grab 30 (give or take) sunflower seeds and your glue, glue each seed on to the center of the plate, space them apart evenly creating the center of the sunflower.

This is the perfect craft for a classroom picture! Take the kids outside in this beautiful fall weather and have them say smile big with their sunflowers!

Silly Little Turkey Classroom Craft

Items needed: Light and Dark Brown, Orange, Yellow, Red, White & Black Construction Paper, Feathers, Glue, Scissors

Now that fall has arrived, It’s time to start preparing for Thanksgiving crafts.

Why not start with this silly little turkey!

Gather all your items needed for this adorable little craft. First things first, grab your handy dandy scissors and your dark brown construction paper. You will be cutting a circle for the base of the turkey. We chose to do a medium size circle. Cut as large or as small as you want the the turkey to be.

Once you have finished cutting all of the base circles from the dark brown circles, grab your white Construction paper. This is going to be the paper used for the base of the eyes. Cut two large circles (not as large as the original circle that you used for the base of the turkey.) Just big enough that the small black circles can fit in the center of the base of the eye on the following step.

Using your light brown construction paper cut multiple strips to be crisscrossed and glued to the top of the turkey.

Now grab the black construction paper and cut two quarter size circles. These are the center of the eyes.

With the yellow construction paper cut a Medium size triangle. Large enough to cover most of the middle of the turkey, but smaller than the two eyes put next to one another.

Using the red construction paper, cut a bean shape. This is to be the turkeys wattle.

Using the orange paper cut two skinny strips to represent the turkeys legs.

Once you have all the pieces of the turkey cut out, lay them on the children’s desks  along with five colorful feathers and their glue. Then watch your silly little turkeys smile and laugh as they enjoy decorating their very own silly little turkeys!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Football Trees

October is coming to an end and the leaves are falling. It can only mean Fall is here and Football games too!! It’s time to transition your rooms so, why not have the children help with the decorations this year with these Festive Fall Football Trees!

Items needed: Construction paper, Silver Sharpie, Glue or glue sticks and Scissors

Pick out the colors you would like the children to work with. (Suggetions on colors to use: red, orange, yellow, for those who would like to add more colors add purple, blue and pink )

For the leaves: cut ovals in all the colors you would like the tree leaves to be, repeating this step as needed to aquire the amount of leaves needed for a full tree. Using the brown construction paper, cut out all of the footballs in an oval shape as well.

(You can have the little ones cut out the leaves and footballs or have them precut and ready to go to make craft time a breeze.)

For the trunk of the tree:  cut a rectangle with a wider trunk to give it the tree trunk look.

For the footballs: once the footballs have been cut out, use the silver shapie to add the lines of the threads on the football. (It’s best for the teachers to do this task due to it being a permanent marker and not a washable marker.)

Now that all the parts of the trees have been cut out and the footballs have been lined, use the glue or glue sticks to layer the leaves and footballs to the tree trunk creating a… Ready… set… hike…Football Tree.

Jack the Jack O’Lantern

 

Jack O’ Lantern Fun & Easy Kids Craft!

First things first get all of your supplies here is a list of what you will need:

· Paper plates

· Glue

· Orange tissue paper

· Green,brown & black Construction paper

· Scissors

Step 1: Cut the orange tissue paper into squares

Step 2: Cut the brown construction paper into rectangles (for the stem)

Step 3: Cut the black construction paper into three triangles (for the eyes and nose of the Jack O’ Lantern) and then cut a smile (feel free to be creative with your smile/eye cut outs)

Step 4: Trace the children’s handprints on the green sheet of construction paper

Step 5: Cut the hand prints out (for the leaf)

Step 6: Have the children glue the orange squares of tissue paper onto the back side of the plate

Step 7: Have them glue the brown rectangle to the top left side of the pumpkin and then glue the green hand print on as the leaf of the pumpkin

It’s finally that time to add the finishing touches!!!

Step 8: Have the children glue the face to their pumpkins in their own creative way.

Don’t forget to have them sign their names to their pumpkins!

Mother’s Day Craft – I Love You to Pieces

Help your little one’s tell their Moms just how much they love them with this adorable card! You can either cut up the pieces  of construction paper yourself or have the students practice their cutting by allowing them to cut out their own shapes. Have each student fold their card in half and write “Mom” on the front. They will also go ahead and draw a big heart inside the card with the words “I love you to pieces” around it. Now they can go to work decorating the card with their little pieces of paper. Be sure they sign their name as well!

It’s a simple craft with a big message that mothers will be so pleased to open.

Eggcellent Easter Crafts - Marbled Eggs

This “eggcellent” Easter craft is a must try for every school, daycare or childcare center! The craft is simple and fun to create. It will leave you with a finsihed product that others wont believe your little ones made by themselves.

Items needed: tray or large plate, card stock or construction paper cut into Easter egg shapes, acrylic paint, craft stick or tooth pick and a squeegee




Begin by cutting out your easter eggs from cardstock or construction paper. Have your students do this part for some cutting practice! You can always draw out the eggs on the paper to give them some cutting guidelines.

To start the marbling process, fill your tray or plate with shaving cream. You will want an even layer across the surface. Next, you can take your acrylic paint and add a few drops around the shaving cream of as many colors as you would like.

After adding your drops, take a craft stick or tooth pick and drag it through the paint drops in zig-zag motions. This will create the marbled effect on the eggs.

Next, take your card stock or construction paper egg and lay it down on top of the shaving cream design. Let this sit for a few seconds to soak in the colors.

Pull the egg up off the shaving cream and allow it to sit another few seconds. You can then take your squeegee and wipe the shaving cream off. Sit the paper to the side and allow it to dry.

This technique can be used on all kinds of shapes for different projects and holidays!

Bee My Valentine

Valentine’s Day is approaching quickly and we have some great Valentine Ideas for you! We are starting off with this adorable Bee that is a great choice for all ages in your daycare or childcare center. All you need is construction paper in yellow, black and red, brown or black chenille stems, glue and a black marker.

Start by cutting out 6 large hearts. You will need 2 of each color. You will also need to cut out 4 small hearts using the red construction paper only.

Tip! You can easily cut out the perfect heart every time by folding the paper in half and cutting in a bit of a rain drop shape.

Now you are ready to start gluing your hearts into place. Using the black heart as your base, add a bit of glue to the upper half of the heart. Then add your yellow heart on top of it, leaving a small space of black at the bottom. Repeat this step with the next two hearts while continuing to alternate colors. This will give you the stripe effect of a real bee.

Next, take you big red hearts and glue them onto the back of your yellow and black heart stack with the bottom point of each heart meeting in the middle. This will create the wings of your bee. Go ahead and glue your chenille stems into place at the top of the yellow heart. You may want to tape these to make it sturdier.

You can now take your marker and add on your bee’s face. You can also add on the note seen above, “Bee my valentine”, or any other note of your choice.

Lastly, add your small hearts by either gluing or taping them onto the ends of the chenille stems and on the end of each side of the mouth.

Now you have a “BEEautiful” valentine to share with someone you love!
