Mother’s Day Craft – I Love You to Pieces
Help your little one’s tell their Moms just how much they love them with this adorable card! You can either cut up the pieces of construction paper yourself or have the students practice their cutting by allowing them to cut out their own shapes. Have each student fold their card in half and write “Mom” on the front. They will also go ahead and draw a big heart inside the card with the words “I love you to pieces” around it. Now they can go to work decorating the card with their little pieces of paper. Be sure they sign their name as well!
It’s a simple craft with a big message that mothers will be so pleased to open.

Earth Day Handprint Crafts
Continuing with our Earth Day Crafts series, we have two fun hand print craft ideas!
For the first one, start by cutting light blue construction paper into a circle. You can give students guidelines to cut for some extra cutting practice. Next you will need green finger paint. Paint the palm of the students hand and have them press down firmly into the center of their circle.
The next option may be a better choice for those wanting to avoid using paint. You will need construction paper in blue, green and the color of your choice. We will be using yellow.
Start by cutting out your shapes. You need 1 blue circle and 3 green continents. The continents can be whatever shape the student imagines them.
Next, have students lay their hands down over the yellow paper with their index fingers and thumbs touching, making a heart shape. Also note that the other fingers are spread apart. Students can either have the teacher or a friend trace around their hands onto the yellow paper. Then they are ready to cut out that shape as well.

Tip! Have some baby wipes handy to help students clean up their hands after completing their hand print.Lastly, add the accent green areas around the hand to look like the continents peaking around the edges.

Tip! Fold the paper in half with the line markings on the outside. This will make it easier to cut the inside of the heart shape out. You can also cut a slit into it while folded to create a hole for your scissors to cut through and then open it back up to cut it out.Lastly, glue all the peices into place. Don’t forget to sign your name on the back!

Spring Craft Ideas
This week we have a series of Spring crafts for you that will use up any of those left over kitchen supplies! From plates to plasitc utenesils, there is a repurposing craft for anything you might already have on hand.
Fork Tulips - These adorable spring tulips are so easy and fun to make! All you need is a few paint options and a plastic fork. Dip the back of the fork into the paint and stamp it onto your construction paper. To finish it off, take a paint brush and add on the green stem.
Bowl Turtles - We love this turtle craft because the bowls used give them a 3D effect that really bring them to life! Start off with a 6” Paper Plate. You will want to cut out the legs, tail, and head and glue them into position on the plate. Next, take a 5 oz foam bowl and flip it upside down to align it with the plate. Staple it into place. Lastly, add some wiggle eyes and some decoartions to the shell.
Plate Snail - Start by cutting up a vairety of colors of tissue paper into squares. You will also need to cut out a body for your snail. This is just a long, skiny oval shape. Have the students glue the tissue squares into whatever design they would like on a paper plate. When they are done decorating the shell they can glue the body into place on the back of the plate. Lastly, add on your wiggle eye.
Utensil Dragonfly - Using a plastic spoon and two plastic knives (you can subsititue the knives for popsicle sticks if desired), paint them the color of your choice. Once dry, glue the knives together in an “X” shape. Next, glue the spoon into place with the rounded side facing upward. To finish off this craft you can add on some sparkles, jewels and a set of wiggle eyes. Try adding a piece of clear string and hanging them from the ceiling for a fun classroom or bedroom decoration!

Earth Day Crafts
Earth Day will be here on April 22nd this year and we have a few craft ideas for you to try out with your little ones to celebrate the day! We are starting off our Earth Day Craft series with this colorful craft made from items found right outside!
Have students go out and collect a couple of 5 different items. This could be grass, flowers, leaves, sticks or whatever else they might find. You may want to pass out a few ziploc bags or brown lunch bags for them to carry their items in.
Next, each student should pick out their favorite color construction paper. With the five items that they chose, they can prepare their area to start their craft. They will also need glue.
Start by taking the glue and making the E. You will want this to be a decent amount of glue so that the items stick. With the item of your choice cover the glue E. Repeat this process with your other 4 items until the word EARTH is spelt out on the page.
You will want to give this craft some time to dry before sending them home with your students. We suggest keeping them overnight to ensure all glue has dried.
